An analysis of the on-line competition in your particular product- or keyword-space. Given particular keywords or products, competitive research is performed on the source code of Web pages that show up in the top 10 results of Google and Yahoo.


Determination of the most effective keywords/keyword phrases that will be used in the optimization. The determination is based on which keyword searches most closely identify your products or services (+) which keyword searches will enable your site to be ranked highest (+) which keyword combinations are actually searched for most often. Typically, up to 5 keywords per page are used in the optimization.


Writing (or re-writing) copy for each page to be optimized. If your content wasn’t originally written by a copy writer with strong optimization in mind, it probably needs to be re-created so that it is more Search Engine friendly and so that it compliments the Meta tags. Well written copy appeals to Search Engine algorithms just as much as it does to your online visitors.


Meta tag composition. Meta tags are portions of your site’s html coding that are extremely important to how Search Engines store information about your site, how they present your site’s information in a list of results and even the order in which your site is listed. Optimization ensures that they are complimentary to the revised content and that they are properly formatted.


Hand submittal of the optimized site to the main Search Engines. After the optimizations are implemented, your site is re-submitted to the Search Engines so that the new changes are identified and stored in their databases. Submittals are made to Google, Yahoo, and the DMOZ directories (Lycos, AltaVista, HotBot, WiseNut and others) and since submittal is by hand, you can expect to see changes show up in a matter of days instead of a matter of weeks.
